Dedicated to my children, this lullaby is based on a small poem I wrote 15 years ago (in May of 2009) for my daughter who was 3 months old at the time. Iquickly wrote it during nap time, on a tiny piece of paper, creatinga melody in my mind. I promised myself I would turn it into aproper composition, and I even blogged about it and shared theidea with my family. However, being a new mom, daily life tookover and I forgot about it.

I stored the little piece of paper, finding it once in a while, hopingto one day have the time to complete it... but never making thespace to do so... only to rediscover it again at the beginning of thissummer (June 2024). This time... I couldn't keep putting it offany longer... I finally did it. Three months later, I have this choralcomposition with strings and percussion accompaniment. I hopeyou enjoy it. :)

I have kept the original poem true to its form, where part A isentirely dedicated to my daughter with a very simple two-notemotive that represents her and added one more paragraph in partB, with another two-note motive to symbolize the arrival of myyounger son.

I wanted to include some of the "baby words" both of my kidsinvented while growing up. Things like "Tinet", "Bunini" and "Ak",each with a consistent specific meaning each kid gave it. This led to a fun rhythmic pattern in section C, where the choir voices interact playfully with the percussion and strings doubling in pizzicato.

This is my way of representing the contrast between mydaughter's natural calm and easy-going temperament and thesharp, playful nature of my son, and how his arrival created a livelyatmosphere where both kids merged playfully in perfectcomplement to each other.
